Autobiography

Hello my name is Forrest. Forrest Gump. I was born in a Greenbow, Alabama on June 6, 1944. My momma named Forrest after Nathan Bedford Forrest, a noted Confederate general in the American Civil War and the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. I was born with strong legs but a crooked spine. My daddy is on vacation. I have an IQ of 75. My momma  told me not to let anyone tell me that i am different. When i was growing up I played football. I really liked playing football. I was so good i got to be on the all American team I also got to meet the president of the united states of America. People ask me if i am stupid but i reply "Stupid is as stupid does." I enlisted in the Marines after high school graduation. When i joined the Marines I meet one of my best friends. His name was Bubba. He wanted to be a shrimp boat captain after he got out of the Marines.

Opinion on the Vietnam war

I I do not really know why we went to Vietnam. I was told to help fight communism. They told me that this war would prevent bad people from taking over other people that cant defend themselves. But anyway I did not really like it. Every time we went into town we were called heroes and received gifts. But in the back of my mind I was scared. I was scared because the little kids would hit grenades in fruit baskets and blow  themselves up. I always had my m16a1 on full auto just in case one these sneaky little kids try to blow me up with a fruit basket. This war was very brutal and unforgiving. I did have alot of respect for them knowing they have the home turf advantage I was happy when i got home. I got tired of looking up all the time looking for snipers.

Vietnam song

I am Marine Corps, Infrantry

Hey there army,
get in your tanks and follow me,
I am marine corps infantry.
hey there air force,
get in your plains and follow me,
I am marine corps infantry.
hey there navy,
get in your ships and follow me,
I am marine corps infantry.
hey there JARHEADS,
grab your M-16 and follow me,
we are the marine corps infantry.
hey there recon,
grab your k-bar and follow me,
you are the best of the infantry.
hey civilians,
get off your butts and sign up now,
join the marine corps infantry.

I can relate to this song because alot of people talk about how the military should do there job but they do not have the guts to enlist.

When I went to Vietnam I met alot of good people. There was Dallas, from Phoenix; Cleveland - he was from Detroit; and Tex... well, I don't remember where Tex come from. Lt Dan was also a good person that I was lucky to have to be my Lt. One day it started raining, and it didn`t quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin` rain... and big ol` fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath.
This one day, we was out walking like always, and then, just like that, somebody turned off the rain, and the sun come out.

In Vietnam There was always somethin to do. I got to clear hidden tunnels with my 1911. I kinda enjoyed it, except when i got stuck a few times and Bubba had to pull me out. On a bright side I did bring home a lot of cool souvenirs. But i think one of the best thing is is the fruit. The fruit they had was really juicy and sweet.

When I was on patrol in Vietnam one day all of the sudden i heard a loud BOOM and I saw Tex fly up in the air. Than all hell broke loose. Everybody was screaming calling out enemy positions. But there were so many enemy's. They came from every known direction. south, east, west and south. They even came out of the ground. During the firefight I heard Bubba yell my name he said, "RUN FORREST, RUN FORREST RUN." So that is exactly what I did. I ran so fast  thatI lost Bubba. So I ran back to find him. But every time I went back to find him I kept finding my friends. i found Tex with both legs blown off, I found Dallas under a tree so i helped him up and ran him to the beach. The 3rd time I went to find Bubba I was runnin and tripped i looked down and saw Lt. Dan. He also lost both his  legs. When I went to pick him up he yelled at me to leave him there.  But I did not listen. When I dropped Lt. Dan off with all the other wounded men I went to go back but he yelled, "Goddang it! What are you doing? Where are you going? I Yelled back "I GOTTA SAVE BUBBA!!!" I ran back in the jungle and I found Bubba. But he was shot.  Than when i was running him back to the beach it felt like somethin just jumped up and bit me. It was a bullet that hit me right in the buttocks. Bubba died on the beach that day. He was one of my best friends.

When I got back to HQ I was finally relaxed. The only good thing about wounded in the buttocks is that I got to eat alot of ice cream. I also got to sit next to one of my best friends. Lt Dan Taylor. He needed help with alot of things because he had no legs. A mortar round destroyed them. That's why I had to carry him when we was in the jungle. I was happy know that I do not have to go back out and try to find Charlie. Charlie was a real pain to find. I am lucky i don't ever have to play hide and go seek together, because he was really good at that game.
